"Al B Sure" is the second release off the forthcoming ‘Lighstkinned’ project by Retrospek members SPNDA and Rah Intelligence. The video represents the culmination (but certainly not the end) of the #LightSkinned campaign to promote the new project, which initally took the form of a series of posts on instagram of promoninent lightskinned artists covers remade with SPNDA’s (and others) image, playing off the common misconception that all lightskinned guys look the same and all of the insults and stereotypes that are attached to that perception.

Stay tuned for ‘Lightskinned’ dropping soon.

If you ever want a reminder of just how small we are look up. Look down. Look out. Look in. Look forward. Look back. In time. And space. And remember, traveler you are always in the middle. As if surrounded by a great ocean on all sides. And wherever you are, whenever you are, however far you’ve gone to get there, you are still in the middle. And it is expanding all around you in every direction and dimension all the time. And it is beautiful. #cosmos #universe #space #time #travelers

Typeframe: Render vs. Cardboard

OK, now I give up. After seeing so many extraordinary, life-like 3D type models I had assumed this beautifully complex ‘a’ was of the same mould. But no. This character has actually been constructed physically. It’s made me realise that the line between 3D rendered graphic shapes and real constructed shapes is now imperceptible.

This Bodoni ‘a’ is part of a personal project called Typeframe by Gerard Miró of Lo Siento a Design Studio based in Barcelona, Spain. The ‘internal structure’ of the character has been constructed from cardboard “undressing the letter to show its skeleton”.
